UPDATE Search Web Services

The old API will be finally switched off and replaced by our new Search Web Services (SWS) on 3rd November. You can find more information on this change on the blog posts from July 2nd and August 15th.
Should you not yet have switched to the SWS, please be advised that you will need to do so within the next two weeks. For further details please read our SWS pages or contact us via eMail.

New Rare Book Room on AbeBooks.co.uk

We have given the Rare Book Room a complete makeover, introducing a much more visual page with lots of interesting content for buyers. It includes a monthly special feature, collectors profiles, the most expensive titles sold in the previous month, the Rare Seller Directory and much more.

If you would like to direct your users to one of our most successful landing pages, you can find the link to the Rare Book Room in the category "Text Links" in CJ and Zanox.

SWS end user guide updated

We informed you about our new Search Web Services some weeks ago (blog post July 2nd). All missing parameters are now added to the new SWS and the end user guide was updated ("Additional Search Filters", page 4 - 6). See the final SWS end user guide.

Also, some good news: contrary to the information posted July 2nd, you will be able to use the old API beyond August 25th. If you have already switched to the SWS, this is for the better, as the old API will be replaced during the next few months. The exact date of the switch-over will be posted on this blog.

New AbeBooks Search Web Services to replace current API

After a successful beta-test we have launched a new version of our API. With the new AbeBooks Search Web Services (SWS) you will have access to more than 110 million books in a flexible and easy way.

The new SWS no longer returns search results in HTML, but XML format, it also supports 10 and 13 digit ISBNs and offers more product pictures for books with an ISBN. In order to access our database you will need a personal client key. This makes it easier for us to support and keep track of users and to prevent fraudulent usage.

Virtually all search URL parameters are currently available. During the next few weeks a couple of missing parameters will be added, ensuring that the selection criteria offered before is still available. Please see our SWS end user guide for the available parameters.

The current API can be used until August 25th, 2008, after this date it will be replaced by the SWS. We recommend switching to the new SWS as soon as possible so that you have enough time for testing and implementation.

For all information on the new SWS, including the client key registration process, the SWS end user guide as well as the Terms of Use, visit our SWS information page.
